| The Concept of Tanjong Heritage |
|
| |
The
Tanjong Heritage art competition was launched in 2001 as part of
Tanjong's corporate social responsibility, in the field of arts and
culture. The theme of the competition is Heritage, in which young
persons are given the opportunity to demonstrate their expression of
our heritage by doing an art piece of one of the gifts of heritage.
This expression in art form will enable our youth to appreciate the
existing inherited treasures of the past. The artwork can cover
topics in rural or urban setting within Malaysia, which could
include historical locations such as Penang, Melaka and others that
encompass heritage significance within Malaysia.
|
| |
|
|
| |
The aim of the art competition is to identify
and introduce young talent, who appreciates our heritage, to the art
world. The objectives of the competition are to:
|
 |
provide the opportunity to our
Malaysian youth to express their appreciation of art |
 |
educate our youth on the value of the
gifts of heritage |
 |
provide a stepping stone to young
talented artists towards recognition of their artistic skill |
|
| |
|
|
| |
In order to facilitate the participation of a
wider spectrum of art students, various two-dimension media are included
in the competition, namely, water colour, oil/acrylic,
charcoal/pencil/ink, print making and mix media.
|
| |
|
|
| |
Each educational institution appoints its own
internal judges for selection of artworks for the preliminary round.
Judges for the final round of judging are appointed by the Organisers.

|
|

The Tanjong Heritage is opened to art colleges
and tertiary level institutions in the States of Penang, Kuala Lumpur &
Selangor. Entry forms for this annual art competition are sent to the
colleges in March and the closing date for submission of artworks is early May.
